Yeah, Djarra can't really sense anything of a divine presence.
Nidhogg walks around the building a few times, occasionally crouching down and observing something no one can really see. He walks back to the group and sighs, putting his head down as he does. "Well, I know who was responsible for the good lords untimely demise. But I don't think any of you will like the answer. Well actually, a couple of you may have heard some things already. Based on a few of the runes placed around this building, I picked up markings of Orcus. And as far as locally available priests of Orcus go, I only know of one. There is a certain drow in town that worships the not so good god of death. I think she was responsible for what happened here."
Nidhogg looks up at the night sky. "There's nothing more for us here. We should probably head back to town."

Djarra nods in agreement well Zni, seems there's a bit more to your letter than some old bones rotting in an abandoned hall. Only thing left now is to decide what to do from here. First though I suggest we head back to the tavern, we could all use some food and sleep.

Even in the dark, you manage to find your way back to the town with ease. The tavern is fairly busy and quite noisy. Many patrons are enjoying a drink by the hearth which is now lit and there is a bard singing a tale of legendary heroes near the fire. The halfling woman does not seem present at the bar, but the sandy blonde woman is there serving drinks to those who order them. However when the 5 of you take seats, whether that is at the bar or at one of the tables near it, Winderemere comes from the kitchen with a large pot in hand, full of what looks like a stew. Win sets it on the counter behind the bar and pops up to serve your group drinks. "Oi, good ta see ya made it back alright. Did ya actually get this bum his famed treasure? He's run up quite a tab in me bar and I do intend ta collect." She says with a rather large grin on her face.

not sure if "famed" is what I'd call it but yeah, we managed to come through relatively unscathed, if you don't mind we'll have a seat at a table, bring us some food and drink
Djarra heads to the closest unoccupied table to have a seat

"Oh sure, go take a seat and i'll bring ya some of me homemade hammerfast stew. Drinks too if ya would like." She ladles some of the stew into wooden bowls and brings them you at your table, shortly after bringing you drinks as well. The bard has taken a slight break from singing and so the noise has died down slightly, allowing for your group to be able to have a conversation.

after enjoying his stew, Djarra sits back with drink in hand, collecting his thoughts before leaning in and addressing the others in a low voice.
ok, lets take what we know so far, we destroyed a town held by goblins, led by a gnoll. Then found a skeleton in a building untouched by the goblins along with a letter that was seemingly addressed to the one who is now a skeleton. Based on markings Nidhogg found someone around here worships death, logic says its our Drow friend we met earlier. Does this make her the assassin the Queen warned about in her letter to Lord Skeletor back there? Was he just a victim of opportunity for the Drow? Of course there's the big questions as well, do we get involved? Who do we involve ourselves with if we do? Do we take this info to the Queen or confront the Drow to see what her plans are and maybe assist her with her next target?

Nidhogg pushes the still full bowl aside and takes a large drink from his ale before responding a slightly hushed tone. "I don't think we would be wise to assist the drow. She doesn't seem very trustworthy. What's more, the queen has a very large and highly skilled army. I've heard stories that 5 of her men alone killed a fully grown dragon. I also hear she has a unit of war machines at her command. Apparently some high tech nonsense that a dwarf and a gnome came up with. The queen herself though is more dangerous then all her assets." Nidhogg pauses for a moment to finish his ale, but has a worried look on his face. "I've heard that she has beaten Liria Valthorin in a duel. If that's true, she would have claim to being the best swordsman in the world. Not something I think we should make an enemy of."

ok well guess that decides it... So what are the chances the Queen DOESN'T know her Lord is dead? Not to mention, how do we tell her? Not as if we can just walk in with the letter and Her dead Lord's crown and say, "Oh by the way, we happened to find this after beating a goblin band led by a gnool, who just happened to be holding a fort where we found your dead Lord in a building with markings of the death God all over and a drow nearby that worships this god" I don't know, something about this whole mess just makes my scales tingle... and not in a good way

"I know the feeling. Although, I would say it's safe to assume the Queen knows that Lord Rayleigh has passed. She is holding a bit of a gathering for the nobles in the surrounding lands. I know the dwarven king is visiting, which is quite an oddity for that old bastard. Perhaps we should go pay the drow a visit. Perhaps something in her tower can give us further evidence. Either way, there is something about this that seems... off." Nidhogg adjusts himself in his chair and thinks to himself quietly on the current situation.
It is at this point the blonde woman comes by, grabbing your empty bowls and refilling your ale. Those with a sharper eye(hint: A decent passive perception) see her placing a note underneath a now full tankard.

Whose tankard is the note under?

Noticing the note when Djarra picks up his tankard, he puts his ale back down and picks up the note to read it

The note looks to be hastily written, and the paper itself is very dirty and torn in some areas. The writing on the note is still readable despite the condition its in. It reads as follows:
"I can help against the drow, just bring your group to room 16 upstairs and we can discuss a plan."

after reading the note, the thought crosses Djarra's mind to leave everyonbe at the table so he can have some "alone time" with the blonde, he smiles wistfully at the thoughts cascading through his mind then shakes them away and addresses the group
well it seems we may have an ally against this drow Djarra startts off as he displays the note
according to this, she can help, we should at least meet her and see what she knows

"An ally, eh? Well... if the stories about this drow are true we could likely use all the help we can get. Don't suppose you know any defensive spells? Things to counter out her magic." Nidhogg finishes the refilled ale and moves back in his chair. "Don't suppose our mystery ally gave a location to meet."
