I agree with those sentiments Grimm.
So, a few seconds after the tree fell you hear the creaking of wooden gates being opened. Moments after that a few goblins step outside, with weapons in hand, and start searching for the cause of the noise.

I toss Zni's slightly dulled scythe back to him then grab the freshly cut tree and drag it back near our camp
Zni, meet me back at camp and make sure Nidhogg is around, Sanya, go gather up a large amo9unt of long grass and meet us back at camp I have a plan

once everyone gathers back at camp I start outlining my plan
we'll use the grass, log and my cloak, Nidhogg and I will use the cover of night to sneak within earshot of the gate and set up the log and items to look like a robed figure standing in front of their gate. once its set up I'll douse the effigy with an oil flask and have Nidhogg standby with flint and steel. Nidhogg's raven will carry a vial over the wall and wait for my signal to drop it on the powder in there, the signal will be "die" at the same moment Nidhogg will ignite the effigy
I look to Sanya and Zni you two will await my second signal before storming in through the gates followed by myself and Nidhogg, I will cast a Chaos Bolt, hopefully shattering the gate and that will be the second signal
now all we have to do is wait for the guards to go back inside

Nidhogg nods in response to your plan, placing his blade back into it's sheath.
The guards make their way back into the camp not too long after the plan is laid out, closing the door on their way back in and retaking their place in the watchtowers.
